The Great Fire of London

This term Year 2 children completed a home learning project to make a Tudor house. We put all the fabulous houses together in the hall to reenact the Great Fire of London. The blue hall mats were used as the River Thames and Clara’s house was selected to be the bakery in Pudding Lane, where it all started. The children all had red or orange flames to demonstrate how quickly the fire spread – like a ‘Mexican Wave!’ The children learnt that London burnt quickly due to the houses being made out of wood, being close together and the wind direction.

The children then rebuilt a modern day London with wide streets in more of a grid formation.
